JOB DESCRIPTION 


The Minister of Music and Worship (MM) will provide oversight to all aspects of the TBC music ministry to the whole church community. This pastor will be committed to Jesus Christ and to the music ministry of TBC members and their families. The MM will model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus. This person should embrace a full range of musical expression including classical and contemporary.


Principal Responsibilities


• In cooperation with the Lead Pastor, plans and coordinates worship services for the church. This includes weekly worship services, special services, outreaches, weddings, funerals, and other occasional events.

• Oversees all areas of music ministries within the church including:

  • Congregational singing
  • Adult choir
  • Ensembles
  • Instrumental
  • Youth & children

• Is familiar with and fosters blended worship and musical expressions. Appreciating the broad spectrum of Christian musical expression, the minister will seek to include musical elements that are classical, current, and span the spectrum in-between.

• Works to expand the ministry by involving and preparing others to serve in choir, ensembles, production teams, and the like to encourage the engagement of the congregation’s spiritual gifts for God’s glory 

• Coordinates musical elements for ministry to San Quentin State Prison; usually about five times per year
• Will be an active member of and coordinate with the pastoral staff

Additional Responsibilities
• Oversees worship technologies including audio and visual equipment
• Oversees the care of the church instruments
• Oversees livestream elements of worship services
• Maintains proper licensing for church music and video usage
• Attends regular staff meetings and occasional training opportunities
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor

• Administrative skills necessary to perform duties and carry out details in timely way
• Have the interpersonal, relational skills and passion for working with people of all ages within the church
• Perpetual learner who desires to stay current in the field
• Will be an active member of the church

Experience / Qualifications
• Be a committed follower of Jesus and become a member of Tiburon Baptist Church
• Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music
• Seminary education is desirable
• Experience with current worship technology is preferred
• Should have experience or education/training in leading worship and congregational singing and leading choirs and other vocal or instrumental ensembles/teams

Accountability
• Works under the direction and supervision of the Lead Pastor
• Maintains and regularly updates an active Ministry Action Plan (MAP)
• Meets regularly with the Lead Pastor for planning worship and special programs
• Participates in the Administrative Council of the Church to coordinate programs and calendar (about 4 times/year)
• Reports at quarterly Family Meeting
• Meets annually for review by Lead Pastor

Work Schedule, Compensation and Benefits
• Flexible work schedule of 20-30 hours per week
• Salary and benefits will be dependent upon experience; future changes in salary and benefit package may be recommended by the Personnel Committee. Salary range will begin at $36,500-55,000 depending upon hours.
• Paid vacation is offered pursuant to Staff Handbook
